Announcing Our May 2022 Exhibitors
FUTURE FAIR ANNOUNCES
MAY 2022 EXHIBITOR LIST
The sophomore edition of the fair expands to welcome over 50 exhibitors in the new Chelsea Industrial venue
Future Fair is delighted to announce its second annual in-person exhibition. In a sizable expansion from last year’s exhibition, Future Fair’s 2022 iteration will occupy BLACE’s 22,000 square foot Chelsea Industrial building (535-549 W 28th St, New York, NY 10001). The fair will host a VIP preview from 4–8pm on May 4 and will subsequently be open to the public from May 5–May 7, 2022. Welcoming 50 exhibitors—a 50% growth from last year’s edition—Future Fair continues to expand its signature emphasis on cross-exhibitor collaboration, with several galleries and studios partnering on a curated concept that will encompass their shared exhibition space.
“As a young startup, Future Fair continues to expand and mature, while keeping remarkable diversity and thoughtful curation at the core of its values,” notes Future Fair Co-Founder Rachel Mijares Fick. “26% of the fair’s exhibitors are BIPOC-owned businesses, and more than half of the exhibitors are women-owned. I’m proud to know that we are committed to these metrics even as we evolve. This year, we have 17 exhibitors joining us from abroad, including from Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada– as well as several European galleries who'll be flying in for their first or second fair since travel restrictions were lifted. Thankfully, it does feel like we are finally coming closer to some kind of new normal since the pandemic began.”
Future Fair 2022 notably marks the expansion of the fair’s portfolio to include new voices in design. Amidst a broader recognition of the possibilities of creative design taking place within the industry and culture today, Future Fair 2022 champions young and emergent perspectives from within this dynamic. A 300 square foot room will be dedicated to an exhibition curated by design visionary Julia Haney-Montanez, consisting of curvy, psychedelic objects alongside bold, vibrant pieces.
Future Fair at BLACE’s Chelsea Industrial is located centrally within the Chelsea gallery district—and the ground floor occupied by the fair boasts 18-foot ceilings with floor-to-ceiling windows along W 28th St.
“BLACE is proud to welcome Future Fair to Chelsea Industrial,” said Robin Fischer, BLACE Founder & CEO. “This unique space is located between the Hudson River and The High Line and is perfectly situated between Hudson Yards and Chelsea. This BLACE-exclusive space unites the industrial architecture from this beloved neighborhood with the glamor and allure of what is to come. We are thrilled to host Future Fair attendees, and greatly look forward to becoming an integral member of the art activation world!”
