The Holiday Market
Art, Objects & Editions

presented by art dealers, independent curators & design studios

The Holiday Market was a seasonal virtual event that took place from November 27 - December 20, 2020. A coterie of art dealers, independent curators and design studios offered orginal works, editions and objects up to $5000.

The new platform aimed to introduce novice and seasoned art clients to discover artworks within a range of accessible price points.

Over the course of 3 weeks, exhibitors shared personal reflections on 2020 through editorial bi-weekly newsletters and hosted virtual gatherings through Instagram Live and Zoom.

The Holiday Market welcomed over 12k unique visitors and acquisitions were made globally.

“This holiday event… includes selections by 36 art dealers at transparent and more accessible price points — a harbinger, perhaps, of the equity that might define all future fairs, not just this one.”

ANDREW SENDOR INTERVIEWS ARTISTS
ELIOT GREENWALD AND MEG FRANKLIN
THURSDAY, DEC 3

Hosted by Andrew Sendor Presents… on @futurefairs Instagram Live.

Artist and Curator Andrew Sendor interviewed Eliot Greenwald and Meg Franklin. The power of the imagination is always a guiding force in culture across all creative disciplines. As we're now caught in the midst of a global pandemic, this notion of affording the viewer an opportunity to momentarily disappear into an expansive and mysterious space for contemplation is welcomed. Eliot and Meg are both subsumed by a spirited creative process that is freely moving deep within an imaginative sphere, which ultimately ignites an internal type of wanderlust in the viewer.

IN CONVERSATION: SEPIDEH MEHRABAN, ARTIST + SHAHDEH AMMADI, ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER
TUESDAY, DEC 15

Presented by Suburbia Contemporary on @futurefairs Instagram Live.

Sepideh Mehraban's work explores memory and landscape, looking at the overlaying and veiling of paint as a means of expressing layers of existence and experience. In her research there is sensitivity toward recent history in Post-Apartheid South Africa and Post-Revolutionary Iran, which she incorporates and explores through text, figurative works and abstraction, often drawing on the grid format of newspaper as a source of inspiration. Future Fair Advisory Board Member Shahdeh Ammadi interviews the artist and talks about her work and practice.

INTERSECTIONAL REGENERATIVE
PRACTICES FOR ARTS PROFESSIONALS
THURS, DEC 17

Presented by Wedge Studio on @futurefairs Instagram Live.

Arts & Culture writer Douglas Turner (Wedge Studio) interviewed fellow exhibitors Storm Ascher (Superposition), Dominique Clayton (Dominique Gallery), Klaudia Ofwana Draber (KODA), Tamika Rivera (here projects), Nico Wheadon Projects (Nico Wheadon Projects), and Nyama Wingood. Together they discussed their backgrounds in art and how they sustain and operate their businesses. Regenerative practices are something that every arts practitioner must consider, however, the challenge of those sitting at the intersection* of multiple social identities is two and three fold.

*The term Intersectionality refers to the theory founded by Kimberlé Williams Crenshaw.
