About the Matronage Salon

The Future Fair conversations lounge, a ‘The Matronage Salon by Less Than Half’ was dedicated to supporting women in the arts. The Matronage Salon seeks to inspire culturally curious women to find meaning in art as collectors and supporters of women artists. Matronage is a philosophy that addresses the structures that maintain unequal gender representation in art history and the market.

Programming features candid discussions with art world professionals that take a peek behind the curtain, giving “matrons of the arts” practical advice for navigating the art world, with a focus on supporting women artists. Additional programming extends to topics such as curatorial approaches behind Future Fair and new economic models for contemporary art.
