2025 CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Future Fair, New York’s new contemporary art exhibition, will host its 5th annual in-person fair May 7–10, 2025 in Chelsea, NYC. The fair is hiring temporary staff positions that are both operational and front-facing. All temporary staff positions are entry-level. There are 3 departments of temporary staff: Event Assistants, Fair Attendants, and Fair Handlers. To learn more about the available positions and how to apply, please see below!

FAIR HANDLER
At Future Fair, the fair handler will be responsible for operational tasks on the floor and will report to the Project Manager.
Main Duties:
Installing signage
Painting
Assembling furniture
Distributing crates and furniture to booths
Requirements:
Ability to lift crates and boxes and be on your feet for several hours at a time.
Friendly, approachable, and capable of maintaining composure in the face of challenges
Able to work effectively in a high-pressure event setting
Detail oriented, organized and efficient
Encouraged, but not required: Experience working in art fair environment
Encouraged, but not required: Experience working in the service industry
Must be available for open the days of May 6, 7 and 10.
Day Rate: $195
EVENT ASSISTANT
Event Staff will assist in set up and break down of the fair as well as operating guest relations, ticketing, and registering VIPs when the fair is open. They will need to be sociable, adaptable, and capable of staying patient and resolute within a fast paced environment. They report to and work with the Project Manager.
This is an entry-level position and best suited for someone looking for an opportunity to break into the art industry. This is both a front-of-house guest services and back-of-house production position, offering a unique opportunity to gain well-rounded art fair experience.
Main Duties of All Event Assistants:
Assisting with fair setup and exhibitor relations
Front of house upkeep and care
Register Press, VIPs, and General Attendees during fair hours
Assist with guest registration and line maintenance
Act as a front-facing representative of the fair to guests and respond to inquiries effectively
Be on hand to assist in miscellaneous operations tasks during the install and de-install of the fair
Answer any questions relating to both Future Fair and the Exhibitors that will be showing
Requirements:
Must be available to work the full days of May 4–11, 2025
Interest and passion to learn about contemporary art and the artists market
Solutions-oriented approach to guest relations and conflict resolution
Friendly, approachable and capable of maintaining composure in the face of challenges
Able to work effectively in a high pressure, event setting
Encouraged, but not required: Experience working in art fair environment
Encouraged, but not required: Experience working in the service industry
Must be available for a 90 minute Zoom meeting in late April to discuss the role in more depth prior to arriving onsite.
Physical requirements:
Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands
Must be able to work on your feet for several hours at a time
Fast paced movements are required to go from one end of the fair to another
Must be able to move, pull, carry, or lift at least 40 lbs
Occasionally kneel, bend, around and climb as required
Project Compensation: $1500
FAIR ATTENDANT
During Future Fair, the Fair Attendants will be responsible for operational tasks on the floor including scanning tickets, assisting guests with way-finding and keeping up the general appearance of the front of house and the entrance. Fair Attendants will work directly with the Project Manager and Event Assistants to be on the floor to ensure smooth crowd flow and operations of the entire fair.
There will be an online training session one week before the fair.
Main Duties:
Scanning tickets
Front of house upkeep and care
Maintaining line and the flow of guests in the entrance area
Act as a front-facing representative to guests and be able to respond to simple inquiries effectively
Assist with guest registration and line maintenance
Overseeing the exits and assisting with the security on the floor
Front desk and show office coverage as needed
Requirements:

Project Compensation:
Fair Attendants are compensated at $23.00/hour.
VOLUNTEERS
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to serve as Future Fair volunteers for our upcoming fair. Volunteers play a crucial role with the Future Fair team. As a volunteer, you will meet like-minded individuals with a passion for art in an international context.
Whether you are new to the art fair experience, if you are an artist yourself, or an art lover – you’ll be included in a range of tasks and activities to support the fair. These include filling Gift Bags; monitoring the Show Office and other areas of high foot traffic; and providing light organizational support to our Production Assistants and Event Assistants.
Hours are flexible, please include your availability in your Statement of Interest in the Application Form.
Project Compensation:
Volunteers work on an at-call basis and will receive 4 complimentary tickets and a tote bag.
