Who is the artist in your program that you have worked with the longest? How did that relationship begin?

Pablo Rasgado. I was doing studio visits in Mexico City and a curator suggested that I visit him. I did so and immediately offered him a solo exhibition with us in Los Angeles. That was in 2011. He has had five more as well as solo art fair projects with us in Mexico City, Bogota, Madrid, Paris and Brussels.

What qualities do you look for in an artist?

Unusual talent, drive, integrity, purpose, intelligence and that they are a good match for our program.

Tell us about one show you are excited to present in your gallery this spring.

I can't single out just one so I will introduce the three artists that we will present with solo exhibitions in April/May 2020. In our main room, we will present Siro Cugusi who lives in a small mountain town in the center of Sardinia. He will present five new paintings that large imaginary landscapes. In our first project room, we will present new ceramic works by Kiyoshi Kaneshiro who lives in Alfred, New York. Finally, in our third room, we will present new paintings by Jingze Du, a Chinese-born artist who grew up in Dublin. They are predominantly grey, and as a group, all three artists well represent our program. We look all over the globe for unusual talent and frequently give artists their first solo exhibition in the United States.
