As we find our lives more stationary these days, I have found and focused on two approaches to sᴛɪʟʟ ʟɪғᴇ - one poking at the past and the other toward the future. Talia Levitt’s heavily textured and masterfully painted canvases engage with and poke at the history of still life painting as a marginalized and anti-academic genre - a meditation on the identity of a still life. Michael Hambouz’s vibrant and intricate hand-cut paper collages envision a post-human future where humor meets hope - a meditative process centered on introspection.
