Picture an object. Michael Zelehoski does so literally, by deconstructing found objects and reassembling them as two-dimensional images of themselves. He then folds them back, visually and sometimes physically, into three dimensional space. Through the clever manipulation of tension, extension, and confluence, Zelehoski creates illusionary spaces that confront our connection with material and explore the conflict between the physical and psychical world.
Challenging the perception of images and revealing the inherent instability of dominant visuality, Zelehoski’s pieces are a balancing act between real and unreal. Repetitive, structural, at times almost illegible, the works are intense and transforming - leading us to question not just the way we look at art, but phenomena at large.
ABSTRKT is a collective of creatives with a different point of view. We specialize in creating unique immersive experiences in collaboration with artists. We believe the best ideas come from looking outside the norm and pride ourselves in taking chances.
